GUARDIAN OF THE GODDESS © Hamish Burgess 2009.
Signed and numbered Limited Edition Giclée print of 300 on water-colour paper, in 2 sizes: 16 x 4 inches, and 30 x 7.5 inches, plus both have a white unprinted border.
Original modern Celtic art by Hamish Burgess, first hand-painted on his truck in enamels on metal. This painting in 2009 measured approx 60 x 15 inches, and was acrylics on stretched canvas (now SOLD). This limited edition digital print is a giclée on water-colour paper, a high-end reproduction made from the original painting, with colours very close to the original.

This original Celtic Dragon mixes several styles of Celtic art, the zoo-morphic creature emanating from a traditional knot (originally found on carved stones in Scotland). The wings are decorated after the earlier Celtic La Tène style, featuring curvilinear shapes on a background of cross-hatching. The body has scales. The front claw is holding a crystal ball containing a white triscele, representing the ancient Celtic Mother Goddess, with her three aspects as Maiden, Mother and Crone.

The balance of the old world was upset with the displacement of the White Goddess by the coming of the newer era of Christianity. The ‘Guardian of the Goddess’ is the red dragon of the Celtic people caring for the Goddess, safe a crystal ball, until it is time for Her return.

All prints signed and numbered by the artist in pencil at the bottom.
The print you receive will not have the artist’s name across it, as in the photo. That is for internet viewing only.
Aloha and mahalo for looking.
